Health-literate action plan studies

This project involved two experimental studies which investigated how the universal precautions approach to health literacy (that is, simplifying materials for all consumers) relates to behaviour change for self-management behaviours. This was explored in the context of an action plan intervention to reduce unhealthy snacking. Findings from these studies highlight the importance of applying health literacy principles to online behaviour change interventions. The action plan tool is now available on the Diabetes NSW & ACT website, and has been incorporated into several other research projects e.g. for COVID-19 testing, CVD prevention, and chronic kidney disease self-management.
