Quality Use of Medicines Health Literacy Project

What is this study about?

This project will implement targeted initiatives to improve consumer health literacy in a phased program of work across two years. The project aims to improve management and quality of life for people with four conditions: gout, atopic dermatitis, antidepressants and older people and oral anticoagulant therapy

 Who is running this research?

The Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) Alliance is a group of organisations working in the health sector with the aim of helping people make safe and wise decisions about the medicines they take.

 The research is being carried out by the following researchers at Sydney Health Literacy Lab in partnership with the QUM Alliance:

  •  Professor Kirsten McCaffery, Principal Research Fellow

  •  Dr Fiona Robards, Research Fellow

  • Tara Haynes, Administration Assistant

 What will we be doing?

As part of program planning, the Sydney Health Literacy Lab is running qualitative research with consumers is to understand how they navigate, perceive and interact with information sources to inform their decision-making and the positioning of communications and information. We will contribute the insights and findings from qualitative research interviews to guide intervention development. The Sydney Health Literacy Lab will also lead, coordinate and develop the overall project evaluation plan, framework and reporting.
