Health Literacy Ambassador Research Study

Research Study: Understanding and co-designing sustainable Health Literacy Ambassador Programs - Stage 1

The Sydney Health Literacy Lab, in partnership with the Statewide Health Literacy Hub, is conducting a research study to explore and co-design sustainable Health Literacy Ambassador programs across New South Wales (NSW) Health (primary governing body for healthcare in NSW, Australia).

As part of the Lab’s and Hub’s joint commitment to advancing health literacy, this study aims to understand the experiences, challenges, and best practices of health literacy ambassadors, champions, and coordinators across the health system.  Insights from this research will inform future models to strengthen health literacy efforts across NSW, Australia.

Study Stages

This study will be conducted over two stages:

Stage 1
To understand the current models of Health Literacy Ambassador programs in NSW, across Australia, and internationally, and perspectives of their effectiveness, impact and sustainability.

Stage 2 
To co-design and recommend a statewide Health Literacy Ambassador Program model and implementation plan

What is involved?

1. Completing an online survey, estimated to take 20-30 minutes.

2. The option to also participate in a semi-structured interview*.

*Only applicable to NSW participants

Who are we looking for?

In the first stage of this study, we are seeking participants who are currently in Health Literacy ambassador, champion, or coordinator roles, or who have responsibility or advocate for Health Literacy Ambassador programs or other Health Literacy initiatives in health organisations and services.
