Dipti Zachariah

I’m a public health professional and PhD candidate at the University of Sydney, committed to advancing health literacy, equity, and community partnership in healthcare. In my current role as Deputy Director of the NSW Statewide Health Literacy Hub (NSW Health), I lead initiatives that strengthen workforce capability, embed culturally responsive care, and improve equitable access to health information across the system.

My career spans leadership roles across the public and private sectors, with a strong focus on multicultural health, health systems improvement, and policy translation. I have designed and led programs in maternal health, domestic violence prevention, youth wellbeing, community health education and the NSW Education Program on FGM/C, working in partnership with communities, services, and decision-makers to improve outcomes for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) populations.

My doctoral research, supervised by A/Professor Danielle Muscat and Professor Kirsten McCaffery, explores antenatal education, healthcare engagement, and health-seeking behaviours among migrant and refugee communities. Grounded in a translational, co-designed approach, my work aims to inform system-level change and support more equitable, human-centred models of care.
