Jolyn Hersch

Jolyn is a Senior Research Fellow and co-leads the Shared Decision Making theme at SHeLL.

Jolyn’s disciplinary expertise spans public health, behavioural science, and mixed methods research. Her research aims to understand and support communication, decision making and informed consent around various forms of cancer screening and testing. She is particularly interested in psychosocial aspects of screening and testing, and contexts where issues around overdetection, overdiagnosis and overtreatment are relevant. Jolyn’s experience encompasses the development and evaluation of patient information and decision support resources, recently including a novel dynamic consent platform to facilitate informed choice about genomic testing in oncology. She also works in the Melanoma and Skin Cancer stream at The Daffodil Centre and collaborates with the Psycho-Oncology Co-operative Research Group.
