Driving harmful misuse of Alzheimer’s blood tests

Could social media be shaping how people think about Alzheimer’s blood tests? Researchers, including Dr Jenna Smith from the University of Sydney’s Sydney Health Literacy Lab, have found that online posts often highlight the potential benefits of these emerging tests while leaving out important limitations and risks. Their findings raise concerns that social media may be encouraging people to seek testing without fully understanding what the results can—and can’t—tell them.
